SBI Clerk, also known as Junior Assistant, is one of the most respective job positions in the Indian banking sector. It is both prestigious and financially rewarding. After the 11th Bipartite Agreement, bankers got a 15% hike on their salary.
If you’re preparing for the SBI Clerk Mains examination, you must get acquainted with its pattern. The SBI Clerk Mains exam pattern is different from the Prelims. There are a couple of more subjects that you need to cover to proceed to the next round.
SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern
The Mains exam pattern isn’t complicated, but you must get the structuring right. The exam will be in online mode, and the questions will be objective. There will be four categories of topics you’d have to cover, which are:
- General English
- Quantitative Aptitude
- Reasoning and Computer Aptitude
- General and Financial Awareness
The pattern keeps on changing from year to year. For the year 2021, the pattern for SBI clerk Mains examination is as follows:
- General English – 40 questions, 40 marks (35 minutes)
- Quantitative Aptitude – 50 question, 50 marks (45 minutes)
- Reasoning and Computer Aptitude – 50 question, 60 marks (45 minutes)
- General and Financial Awareness – 50 question, 50 marks (35 minutes)
So in total, you’d have to attempt 190 questions within 160 minutes. The total marks will be 200. You are required to answer as many questions as possible within the 2 hours 40 minutes time frame.
It’s important to note that the time limit for each section is crucial. For General English, you’d get no more than 35 minutes. So it cannot be that you spend 30 minutes solving the English questions and will get 5 minutes extra for the Quantitative Aptitude section.
The online system will load automatically after the time for that particular section is up.
SBI Clerk Mains Exam Syllabus
Along with the examination pattern, it’s also important to understand the syllabus. That’s because it’s vast, and you’ll have to cover more topics than what you did for Prelims. You’ll have around one month for preparation after completing the Prelims examination.
The Quantitative Aptitude, which consists of 50 questions, is the longest on the list. You’d have to cover multiple topics like:
- Simplification
- Data Sufficiency
- Time & Distance, Work
- Data Interpretation
- Quadratic Equation
- Profit & Loss
- Mixture & Allegations
- Number Series
Similarly, for reasoning ability, you’ve got the following topics:
- Internet
- Machine Input/Output
- Syllogism
- Blood Relation
- Coding-decoding
- Statement and Assumptions
For general and financial awareness, you need to keep pace with the latest happenings around the world. You’ll be asked about things happening in the banking sector, sports, government schemes, books, and awards. The exam will also test your general knowledge of Indian history and geography.
Computer Awareness is relatively easy. You’d have to cover the basics of computer, DBMS, MS Office, internet, networking, among other topics.
The syllabus remains constant for most years. But they do change. So update yourself with the changes made in the Mains examination.
But it’s the pattern that changes regularly. At times, you’ll get more questions from Quantitative Aptitude than Reasoning. So you need to update yourself about the latest SBI Clerk Mains exam pattern. With that said, keep practising by giving mock tests. Hard work often guarantees success.
