Everyone has to maintain their air compressor to keep it in good shape throughout time. The recommended time in which to do this is up to you. It is recommended to check this before and after use to save time and money in the long run.

There are ways to keep it in good condition just by following the when to guide. I recommend following this to keep your air compressor in top shape for your next use.

Always remember to keep lubricated unless it does not use lubricant

– Check pump oil level-

  • Make sure all power is off
  • Keep on flat surface
  • Remove cap/plug
  • Inspect and look for dirt or anything out of the ordinary
  • The oil should never be higher above half way point

Remember it is hot

– Changing compressor pump oil-

  • Disconnect from all power
  • Keep on flat surface
  • Remove Cap/Plug
  • Add collection tray underneath
  • Remove oil cap and let the oil drain out
  • Replace cap and make sure that it is tight
  • Fill with oil DO NOT EXCEED HALF WAY POINT

Check daily

  • Oil level
  • Inspect for leaks
  • Drain water
  • Check for weird noises
  • Check for weird vibrations
  • Check air leaks
  • Check belt

Check monthly

  • Safety relief valve
  • Belts
  • Tighten bolts
  • Connections

Remember to service your engine every 200 hours of use to make sure it doesn’t have any issues in the future.

Rebuilt air compressors

By owning a rebuilt air compressor, you have to keep all of this in mind even more. Sometimes they need more maintenance than a brand new air compressor because they have old parts or have been used for so long. Things like this were down the lifespan of an air compressor and make maintenance that much more important.

Remember to maintain these to a more than usual. That means once a week, checks and monthly checks are for sure. The other thing is you should check them every 200 hours of stuff at least every 100 hours. A rebuilt air compressor tends to go out faster and needs more maintenance on it even daily.

The other thing to remember is that when you are maintaining these, you are doing the same as if it was a brand new air compressor. The only differences are that it is more frequent than a brand new one.

All of the ways to do things are changing the filter, tightening the bolts, and checking the oil level it is all the same. There is no need to worry about it being different because there is no difference; it is merely the rate at which you check it that is different.

Many things can do to keep your air compressor happy. I recommend at least doing the above when you are supposed to keep them going. You can’t check your air compressor to maintain it often so whenever you want even if it’s everyday.

This is important and will keep your air compressor going for years to come. So go maintain your air compressor and keep it going longer than you expected it to you deserve it. If you put the work in to keep it happy it will keep you happy as well in the long run.
